Let’s think about our hearts every month...

My sister, Jessie, had a heart attack in September. She called me from the hospital and told me nonchalantly, as if she were at the movies or the mall. At first it didn’t register with me. She said it again, “I’m in the hospital. I just had a heart attack.”

Here is the link to this week's column. Just click on the top headline. I wrote about February and heart health month. This column is for all of you ladies out there. Enjoy, and as always, thank you for reading. Now go get those hearts healthy!!

Good advice, Lou Ann
Many still think of heart disease as a man's disease, and will be enlightened to know it's the #1 cause of women's deaths.
I wish your sister a speedy recovery and many more years of good health.
BTW- I don't know her age, but isn't she relatively young for a heart attack?

Thank you for your comment. My sister is doing great, and yes she is young for a heart attack. This really comes home again as yesterday a friend of mine had a heart attack. Luckily for him he had someone with him who knew the signs and got him quickly to the hospital. He also had emergency surgery. He is recovering nicely, but only because of his quick acting friend. So, whoever you are, take care and remember 150 minutes per week!!

Thank you.
