"Caleb's Crossing"

NPR interview with Geraldine Brooks

I just finished reading Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks. It took me a few reads to actually get into the story, but once I crossed the line, there was no turning back.

I loved the research and the history surrounding the story. It is based on facts that Geraldine uncovered and the motivation for this story.

My book club, and my hometown, read "March" for which Ms. Brooks won a Pulitzer prize.

The above interview was excellent. I would love to hear any comments on the book as well. If you have read either book, please drop me a note.

Lou Ann,

I read March several years ago and loved it! Little Women was one of my favorite books growing up,so it was quite interesting to revisit that from the perspective of Mr. March.

I know you love a good story, so I want to suggest that you read "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" if you haven't already done so. It's about a boy and girl who meet in the 1940's, as Japanese are being rounded up and put into camps. Really interesting and quite well written. One of my best reads this summer!
