Philip left this morning. We said good bye in the yard under the twinkle lights of the trellis before dawn. The rain was falling soft and gentle and the only sounds were that of the early morning crickets.
It was dark and quiet in the house when I went back in...I wiped off the rain from my eyes..or maybe they were tears.
Lou Ann Homan-Saylor lives in Angola, Indiana which is nestled in the hills of Northern Indiana. Your lovely "contributor's note" at the bottom is rather ironic to me as we are reading "Michael Martone" by Michael Martone in my Studies in the Short Story class. It is an entire book of contributor's notes that Martone has written about all the different lives he has/could have led.
If you're not familiar with Martone, he's a native of Fort Wayne and now teaches at the University of Alabama. He writes a LOT of books that revolve around Fort Wayne and Indiana.
If you're interested, on October 2nd he will be visiting my campus (University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne) and giving a reading and discussion at 7pm in our auditorium.
Anyway, I hope you are doing well. Unfortunately I had an old version of your blog bookmarked, so it appeared to me that you hadn't updated in awhile until I went through the link on your website.
