9/11 Tribute

It was so hard in deciding what to post for today. There are photos and poems everywhere, but I really loved this commercial so I finally chose this.

We are remember that day so well. I was living in my tiny apartment at the time. I had a meeting at school and it was interrupted by the secretary coming in to announce the news. We turned on the TV, and of course that was the end of that day.

I had taken my oldest son, Adam, to the airport in Indianapolis the night before. He had an early morning flight through Philadelphia and then to Tampa, Florida. I was in a state of shock waiting for news of his plane.

At the end of the day when the skies had become silenced, I remember just sitting in my apartment...really just sitting. I wanted to get to my children. They were all over the country by then and I couldn't get to them.

The following weekend was the Johnny Appleseed Festival. A meeting was held a few days later determining whether or not to go ahead with the festival. It was determined that families needed this time together and what better way to celebrate life than to go to the park.

It was the right thing to do.

I guess the most important thing to do on this day is to remember...just remember.

Audtitioning for Swan Lake (again!)

My friend, Amy Barnes, took this photo after the 10:30 show last night so it must have been very close to midnight by the time we were finished talking. I love this photo because I look so happy! There are still four more shows at the indyFringe15...come on out! Be sure to catch other shows while you are there!

Happy Birthday Adam and Aaron!

From left to right: Abe, Aaron, Adam.

Today is the birthday of my twin sons, Adam and Aaron. I wish them the happiest of all birthdays and that this year will bring them joy and peace.

The second photo was taken on the farm when life was sweet and peaceful. I think this photo was taken on one of the happiest days of my life.

Note to all young parents: love each of those moments in your children's lives. The time vanishes so quickly...carpe diem.

Happy, happy birthday!

Meteor showers...

Last night I set my alarm for 2 a.m. to go out and watch the meteor showers. I was not disappointed!

I was able to catch quite a few during the early morning hours. With clear cool skies over Indiana, I made myself comfortable on my backyard bench while waiting for the showl

It is not too late if you missed it. The peak time for viewing will be in the a.m. on the 13th. So go set your alarm. There is nothing more beautiful than the early morning darkness. Enjoy!

Guests...

White Picket Gardens in the Spring.

It has only been a week and a day that I have been on AirBnB; however my old houses has been filled with guests three nights already.

I didn't know what to expect with this new adventure, but so far I am loving it. My guests have all been different and from different parts of the world.

Last night my guests were a young couple from Switzerland. They are on summer holiday from the university and traveling across the United States. They chose Indiana specifically as they did not know much about it.

Today they are traveling on old Route 20 across the state towards Chicago. It is a beautiful day for travel.

Last night we sat out late at the campfire telling stories and listening to the quiet sounds of late August. The cicadas were the only sounds we could hear besides our voices. Once in a while a far away train whistle added to the ambiance. The lightning bugs are still out which is good as I have missed them this summer.

If you know of anyone traveling across northern Indiana, send them my way!
